Workshop: Digital Workflow and Primary Photo Editing – Doug Johnston
Digital Workflow and Primary Photo Editing
This workshop will explore how to develop a consistent digital workflow: from post-capture transfer of files from the camera; considerations about reviewing and organizing images; basic editing approaches, and some thoughts on sharing and archiving. Software available to assist the workflow will be discussed, but the demonstration will use Adobe’s Lightroom, mainly because it runs on both Macs and PCs, to illustrate one workflow. Participants can expect to leave with a clearer understanding of what elements to consider as they develop their own unique workflow and how to avoid some of the blunders the presenter has made. This is primarily a demonstration rather than a hands-on workshop so there is no need to bring a laptop, but questions, and suggestions from your experience are welcome.
Doug Johnston has been interested the arts, especially photography for many years, and the advent of the digital era opened up all kinds of opportunities and challenges, not the least being “What do I do with all these images and how do I organize them?” He is particularly interested in the creative opportunities that computer software, apps and smartphones open up, but someone in the family is concerned about his excessive computer screen time.
