Regular Meeting – 2019-2020 Annual Awards + Photographic Decathlon by Jon Clarke
Presenter: Jon Clarke
Presentation Date: September 17, 2020
Presentation Title: Photographic Decathlon
To participate in a photographic decathlon, one is required to become relatively proficient in up to 10 different photographic genres or styles. Unlike specialization, the decathlon allows the photographer to stretch his or her skills over many, often very different, subjects. This presentation will discuss the pros & cons of exploring numerous genres of photography, as well as showing many examples of my chosen “decathlon”. Jon is a long-time member of the MCC, and this year’s winner of the Robbie Robinson Outstanding Performance Trophy. Jon has always had a love for photography, starting with a film camera in high school. The advent of digital photography has allowed Jon to combine his interests in photography and computers, and he has become quite proficient with Lightroom and Photoshop. He considers the image only half done when the camera has “clicked” – virtually 100% of images get some sort of treatment with LR or PS before being considered “complete”.
