In this workshop we will delve into the merits of great black and white photography and why this timeless genre is recognized by the artworld. We will begin with basic processing utilizing desaturation techniques and then progress to advanced colour channel conversions, hue adjustments and zone tonal control. The workflow will be focused on Lightroom, Photoshop and Silver Efex Pro. We will also touch base on how HDR, infrared, grain simulation and tints can further enhance the process.
Please note, this is not a hands-on workshop, but an in-depth overview to understand the possibilities with Black and White photography. Therefore, laptops are not required.
Brian Ellis has been passionate about photography throughout his life. He has spent almost 40 years in the graphic arts industry, with a strong focus on the commercial printing industry, including high-quality art reproduction.
