AV Shows Page 1
Auschwitz by Sandro Del Re
Sandro has created an AV presentation of his visit to Auschwitz and other nearby WWII memorials, from a time of unspeakable inhumanity. With a poignant reminder penned by George Sanatana – “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” – we must not forget.
Escape to Georgian Bay by Peter Van Rhijn
Peter created this AV show from a collection of images of the Georgian Bay area, made over a forty-year period. He moved around mostly by kayak and on cross-country skiis. For those adventurous spirits who ever considered exploring Georgian Bay themselves, this will be an inspiring introduction which will leave you with an impression of the fantastic photogenic scenery of this region.
The World Laughs in Flowers by Peter Van Rhijn
“Wildflowers were my main subjects early in my photographic career,“ states Peter. “I found out the hard way that a sequence of flower images is super somniferous. ‘The World Laughs in Flowers’ was an experiment in mitigating this by showing the flowers mixed with the natural scenery in which they grow. The early results were promising. Fewer nodding heads were observed. As my portfolio of scenic images grew, this show developed to its present version.” Enjoy this beautiful and mesmerizing show from Peter!
Mclean’s Auto Wreckers by Creative SIG Members
Eight members of the Creative SIG visited Mclean’s Auto Wreckers on November 10th to photograph the massive site of retired cars, buses, trucks and agro equipment. This is one of the largest depots of its kind in Canada. The group had a fun day experimenting with smoke grenades, aerial shots and creative designs, while capturing images of vintage cars among the trees that have overgrown portions of the site. See, for example, a 1954 Austin A40 Somerset, which is still in remarkable condition for its age. Thanks to Kevin White for organizing the outing. Enjoy this trip into the past!
Creative SIG Images edited by Michael Lemiski
Each month members of the creative SIG are challenged to explore a different creative photographic technique. The members contributed some of their favourite images which have been compiled in a video to show how they took on these challenges and used innovative techniques to turn their photos into works of art. We hope you enjoy our images.
Walking the Camino by Bruce Kennedy
Bruce has produced this excellent AV show of his walk on the Camino in Northern Spain this past September. He writes: “The traditional Camino de Santiago is a 800 km long pilgrimage from France across northern Spain to the city of Santiago (Saint James). It has been travelled for over 1,000 years. Currently it is walked in whole or part for religious or personal challenge reasons. My dream of walking the Camino was resurrected last year with knee surgery. In September 2024 I walked selected sections over 15 days. Making this video helped me relive and share the experience.”
Traveling the Roads of Tanzania by Linda Hilliard
This is Linda’s first AV show and it’s a beauty. The video recounts the travels of Linda and her husband, John, through Tanzania in 2007. She captured many wonderful images of the wild animals that graze and hunt in country’s famous national parks, as they live and struggle to survive in their own natural environment. Linda adds a little humour along the way to help the viewer understand the experiences and challenges of this amazing adventure for first-time visitors to this exotic world. Enjoy !
The Great War Battlefield Sites by Liz McNally
This ‘Great War Battlefield Sites’ AV show was created by Liz, following a journey with friends to France and Belgium in May 2023. She states: “My purpose in creating the show is to share my experience and to encourage people to honour our military – those who served our country and those who are still serving our great country. We will remember them.” Liz tells the visual story of the journey through her selection of personal photos, archived images and music. This is her first AV show and we look forward to seeing many more.
After the Hurricane by Sandro Del Re
In this video, Sandro shares with us his startling back and white images of the devastation caused by hurricane Ian, which made landfall near Florida’s Cayo Costa on September 22, 2022. The images overlay the narration of a poem written by Ishion Hutchison, to create a very impactful AV presentation.
Cosmos by Michael Lemiski
Michael imagines what floating through space would feel like. In this video he started with a single oil and water image, and his own ambient music composition.
