Outing – Canadian Raptor Conservancy
On Saturday, January 31, 2026, 15 intrepid photographers from the MCC made the trek to the CRC for a two-hour private photo session, led by Mike Robinson. Grateful for the brilliant sunshine, and despite the frigid temperatures the participants captured some outstanding images. Below are a couple of participant comments about the experience:
“We ended up having a beautiful day, not as cold as expected, and with bright sunshine that made it easy to shoot with fast shutter speeds. It’s always fun to hear all the shutters bursting away when the birds take off and fly their routes; I myself took almost 2700 shots, which is on the high side, but I think most people took a lot as well.” Mike R.
“The Canadian Raptor Conservancy was an incredible experience. James, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and has a great eye for positioning the birds to take full advantage of the best lighting for photography. It was very cold, so dressing appropriately is a must—my toes were still tingling two hours later! Beyond the fantastic photo opportunities James carefully set up, we also learned a great deal about the diverse species of birds of prey in his care. I highly recommend this trip when it comes around again.” Peter D.
“A wonderfully frigid experience with like-minded friends – well organized and executed.” Eros F.
